Am I in the correct path for mixing?

I didnt like the drums, the snare had this strange tiny sound on it which was tedious after listening to it for a while. Also the bass and kick drum on every beat or more doesnt sound like great musicianship. But that comes down to your style and taste. But Not a bad recording at all. I think more seasoned people here would be able to give better advice ;)

In spots, various instruments aren't keeping up with the pace... noticed it bass, guitar and keyboards... to the point of annoyance. There's also an incorrect note or two in there I reckon.

The volume dies at 1.20 noticably... you can even see it in the waveform.

Not sure how much of this would be noticable depending upon where vocals are added...

for your first time its a good effort - the best thing is to listen to music that sits in a similar range to that of your own and try match the mix as a best you can.

I really like this, it has a perky casiotone "sheek geek" quality that is very original and contemporary. If you can find a vocal that blends well you might have the basis of something that rivals "They might be Giants".

Please kill that tiny thing on the snare! I think it's not improving the song at all...

The synthy cowbell sound is very annoying :( I think it takes away from the song a lot. The snare has no body. It may be out of phase. The drumming could be a bit less kick heavy. Good start on the mixing. But there are a some strange things going on in the arrangement.
