I may buy some equip. Need some info.

Im thinking about buying a similar mic and Pre used above. Pay no mind to the music, I know its horrible, Im just familiar with the set-up used.

My question is Hardware...

My system: 1.2ghz. AMD athlon. 256 SDRAM and 40 gig HD, (both HD and RAM will be upgraded if I go through with this)

The above music was created on a new Gateway tower: 500 series. (2.5 pentium 4, 80 gig HD, and 512 SDRAM)

I like the sound of their recordings, quality wise. If I buy similar equip will my system suffer, or produce similar results???

What do yall think?

Two engineers - one experienced, and one a rookie - using the exact same gear, will produce vastly different-sounding recordings.

It isn't about the gear as much as the skills in using it!

So to answer your question - NO - you won't get the same results given the same setup unless your skills are equivalent.

And YES.. I did accidentily hit 'quote' instead of 'edit'... now I'm going to sleep. djeez..

I think what F_cksia is tryin' 2 tell u is that if ur skills were superior then u would know what techniques, equipment, etc. work for you.

It's not just about equipment. Sol is one of the best producers I've heard and evrybody's always shocked when then they hear the equipment he uses. No way near the best, but he is so skilled he can match and beat those with far superior equipment.

I'm making pretty good quality music on a Amd K6 550 joint with 256mb ram...i say that because i don't mix down my ish(i got a partna in STL that does that). ultimately thought it's on your skills, cause my partna could mixdown on my computer no problem. Honestly i could too but do you know how long it can take to mix down a joint and master it???? sometimes several hours.....when means i'm not making beats and that's my forte.

It's all about ya skills. your system should work nicely even is you use it for day to day stuff. My 550 joint is used strictly for music so i don't have but 3-4 programs installed on it. Plus alot of things i've turned off like power saving ish, screen saver...do a search online for "computer optimization for audio" .

i also don't use my computer as an instrument. Like using a midi controller to control a software based instrument. All my sounds come from external devices.
