"Alright" Old demo for friend.....need mix help

same thing goes with this one........I can't re-record anything but guitars and vocals.

Very cool tune, once again. Drums seem to be the only real trouble here. If you can do some work on them, that would be cool. If not, I think they are something you can at least live with. It's a cool song, and if nothing else, maybe you could do it as a collab, and get the sounds you want. I like the tune.

It's a nice song, that can turn out really nice for you, if you worked it a bit, as allready said, the drums are probably the biggest issue here, i find that "hihat sizzle" throughtout the song rather annoying, and I think that you should bring down the cymbals in the mix..
 
Ouch! it is a nice song, but I couldn't take the sizzle, sorry. My ears are bad, too. I can't imagine how someone who actually hears high end can take it. If you could put up a version with no drums and tell me the speed, I'll be more than happy to do a drum track for you. It's a song worth saving.

Rami ! that would be excellent if you could add drums to this. It was recorded live so Im not really sure how to tell ya what speed it is lol. It kind of changes throughout the song. I will post a new mix, as well as one without drums. If you (or anyone) could slap something together that is better, that would be awesome!!!

It's done but I can't upload it anywhere. Soundclick is screwed up today and I've never been able to upload anything to LIGHTNINGMP3. I know it's not their fault because I see others uploading stuff there all the time, but I always get "The file you are attempting upload is not recognised as an MP3..." but then it says "File type: MP3". It's weird.
Anyone know another place I can upload an MP3?

I always use www.yousendit.com... just send the file to an email address and it'll give you a url that people can download it from

I think THIS LINK should work.

This was not easy to do. Playing with no click or even a staccato instrument to follow. That's why my playing and expecially the fills are pretty robotic. It's the best I could do. I can also re-mix it if the drums are too loud or whatever, let me know.

Yeah if you just send it to your own email address it'll still give you a url link that you can post and anyone can download it.

Rami, what are you using to convert your files to MP3? Sometimes software uses a different codec, and you can change that in the conversion process. I know you got it fixed this time, but maybe we can get it figured out so you don't have trouble in the future. What is your cd burning software, and other music software you have?

Thanx Ed. Actually, I didn't figure it out this time. It still didn't work at LIGHTNING, so I put it up at YOUSENDIT. The WAV to MP3 converter I have is called "Coffe Cup Rip and Burn". Weird thing is, I can upload MP3's everywhere except LIGHTNING. But I also know that I'm probably the only one that has trouble there, so it's not on their end either.

Some codecs are different, and since NL is trying to keep weird shit off his site, the codec in the conversion process you use might be something his software doesn't recognize. I know my players play your stuff just fine, so it's just a weird glitch.

I'll give it a listen, but I don't see why not.

Glad you like this. I can re-mix it if you find the drums too loud or not loud enough.
 
I dont think they are too loud, but I am obviously not an expert. If everyone thinks the rest of the mix is ok, than I think this is one is done. I listened to the original version on the way to the picnic and didn't really like how my voice sounded in my car stereo but oh well....maybe its just my stereo lol ;-) it sounded pretty harsh.

ps the ending is so much better just doing the symbol shimmer's (or whatever they are called) very cool!!

I will post a version of wasted years without drums in that thread. No hurry, and if ya can't do it no big deal. THanks for doing this!! if you ever need guitars tracks just let me know!!
 
With Rami's drums, I think the bass drum is a little too loud. Everything else sounds good. Not really my style of music, so I don't know what I could compare it to.
 
RAMI would there be away you could just put up the drums?.......incase I want/need to change something else in the mix? I will PM you with some ftp information, and setup an account for ya right on my server, therefor you can just upload straight to that and not worry about file size.
