dobro, I bring gift of Robert Wyatt song, though you might know this one already.

Robert Wyatt's Soft Machine, right? I love SM 'Third'. Delightfully freely weird and beautiful. His falsetto wahwahs on this one seem to suggest he's still that way. :)

You have an intro, line, line, bridge; then a second verse starts. You might consider dropping the bongos until that second verse begins with the shaker. Nice. I like it.

Last time I put up the mix in stages, but some people got confused. So here's the first full mix of this one. Trying out some small new tricks, so I'm curious what you think.

I LOVE Robert Wyatt as a softie, as a Mole & as a solo artist.
His version of Shipbuilding uses real trumpet but is a superb example of his skills as an interpreter - such a varied and powerful career before & after falling out of the window.

Whoops - the trumpet (Chet Baker) was on Elvis Costello's version - sorry.

That's okay. That's an incredibly beautiful song. I'm grateful you steered me to it. Even if it cost me the price of a CD. :) I love those flurries of trumpets towards the end. If I had Chet, I wouldn't have to do my own poor man's trumpet. :D

Hi, Rod. Sure, I'll try that. Staging. :)

Hey - Just checking this out now. I think this is the most interesting and fully developed piece I've heard from you. The mix sounds great to me...lots of nice touches here and there. Really nice job.

That's encouraging, Heat - thanks. I mixed that one in two days, and then another twenty minutes for tweaks from comments here. Maybe I'm finally stumbling into the occasional decent mix.

Hey, question - can you make out the words alright? I wrote 'em so I know 'em and I hear 'em is the problem. But can you make them out?

Hey, just listened back again. I can make out most of the words fine - there are a couple that I'm a little unsure on, but I think that's more about enunciation than vocals being buried/masked.

Again, it's good work this dobro

cool one Dobro! I wouldn't necessarily call it weird or disturbing...more of quirky tune. Agree on lowering the breaths. I'm thinking this is a Cicada induced sleep deprivation flashback kind of tune...That was a great story back when....:D
