I was wondering if anyone has a studio snake or recommends getting one when you start tracking multiple channels at once. I'm thinking it might make it easier anyway but not sure where to look or what to look for exactly. Thanks alot!

TaGiFen - If your setup allows you easily wire up mics to your mixer then that works great and is the least expensive option. Snakes are good in situations where access to the back of the mixer is not practical like in a separate room or up against a wall...

The problem I found is that most commercially available snakes are made for stage use and are rarely shorter the 50ft. You can make your own easy enough or have one made for you. I ended up making breakout panels in each of my rooms that wire into a patchbay where I can route mics to pre-amps or different channels. A snake and a patchbay together make a very flexible setup.

$0.02 of mine..

Hey. Thanks man! A snake and a patch bay sounds like it would work. Although, a 50ft commercial type snake might work for me too. Giving me flexability recording in different areas in our recording space. Hmmmm. Is either option better because of a better signal? Meaning less noise with one or the other. Or is there no difference? thanx for your $0.02 :-)
