voice in the wilderness
Pleeze check out this new acoustic blues recording. I'd be grateful for reactions of any kind. Wanting to get closer to my live sound, I tried recording it live (although the harp is tracked). "Allergic to my love" at

tried to check it out, but the site won't open.....i keep trying though!

Thanks Jason. It's been up and down this morning but it seems to be fixed now.

So THATS what the LI stands for....

You sound like a true bluesman.
The track had a very natural feel to it.
Just hearing the harp solo and it sounds like its not quite in the room with the guitar.
You should fix that.
Other than that this tune is true "urban country east-coast white-boy blues":D

Thanks Tok, HeavyD...

I think I will use that description ("urban country east-coast white-boy blues");)

The harp does have heavy compression on it. I tried to get it in the same room by mimicing the reverb I put on the vocals, although I did forget to adjust the harp 'verb when I reduced the vocal 'verb. Do you think it's the compression or the reverb that gives you that out-of-room experience?

Nice guitar sound. I like that real room sound on the vocal. I thought I heard a bit of distortion on the vocals in the loud parts. I can hear when you move farther away from the mic. Not bad.. just noteing that. Well done.

I tried to play it, but it wouldn't work. I will try again tomorrow. I look forward to hearing you. Walter

I don't know what the problem is:( It is streaming fine for me on both hi fi and lo fi. I will ask the artistlaunch guys if they have any idea.

TJ-

There is some distortion when I let it out; poor vocal technique, I am afraid. (I did back off the mic a little but not enough.) I had some compression on the top in real time, trying to avoid that distortion, but no dice.

Like I said, I recorded the vocal and guitar live (the recording is a combination of two takes). I used my AT4047 large condensor on the vocal and an AT small condensor (I forget the number) as well as DI on the guitar. The DI was through a fishman blended system and I had it adjusted about 75/25 pickup/internal mic.

Anyway, I had a lot of vocal on the guitar tracks, including the vocal being picked up up through the little internal mic. So I did have some non-distorted vocals through the guitar mics. (I had to do some eq compensation on all three tracks trying to get both a guitar and vocal sound that I liked.) To minimize the vocal distortion, I reduced the volume on the vocal track (which was fine volume-wize since it was too loud when it was distorting), but that kind of screwed up my eq balance at those points, making the vocal sound far away.

All of which, of course, makes for a very authentic white-boy blues sound;)

music match problem

Apparently they are having a problem with streaming via music match. Use windows media or real one or whatever, just not music match, and it should work.
