Man that was great...

I second your post.

Great work ethan.

That's brilliant. I've never seen something groove based like that done with the cello. Maybe I should listen to less classical music.

That is so cool. Who needs synths?

Learn to play an instrument!!!!

That makes me want to buy a cello, and vilolin. But they're expensive.

Well my respect for the man is even greater now that I've seen that. His realtraps video on treating a control room with bass traps already changed my life.

WOW!! What a cool video. Ethan, you are indeed a musical master!! Very impressive!!!!

I still can't afford your bass traps, though. :D

But I wish I could a little more than I did before. :)

lol no doubt, the guys at work loved it! They asked me to send the link to their email, etc. Great concept, great sounds, great tune!

Awesome video and Rondo! I agree Ethan Rules!

I emptied my bank account and bought a bunch of Real Traps for my studio back in January -- best investment I've made so far!

Cheers, Rez

WOW! That´s amazing!

That´s weird.. I typed this right BEFORE I turned back to the video at 4:50, never saw it before.

And our rooms sound better all the while we're being treated to the sound of music. ;)

Ahhhh....now that's tasty. Concerto in "E" than.

I didn't even need the lava lamps to enjoy that.

I was expecting a Flamenco break out there for a minute.

Folks,

> How old is that video Ethan? <

I did this over about six months from summer through winter 2005. I just finished making a widescreen version with 5.1 surround mix, but I don't know how to get that out over the 'net.

> How was the cello recorded? <

Close miked, maybe a foot away. I usually record cellos and other strings from 3 or 4 feet away in my large live room. But knowing I'd add a lot of compression and other effects, this time I aimed for a very tight and up-front sound.

I'll also mention that you can download a much better version (hi-res video with uncompressed stereo audio) than what's on Google. Lookie here:

Thanks again guys. You made my day.

Ethan, I was at a party last night and my friend just got high speed internet, so I brought up this video and everyone loved it. They were all amazed. We're all musicians so we definitely appreciated it.

On a side note (I'd simply PM you but you've got that disabled), I tested my control room yesterday with the sonar file you have on your realtraps site. I was amazed at how bad my room was! Just for a test I threw some 6 inch insulation in two corners and it amazingly flattened the response quite a bit. I learned at lot from the video of you and that other guy treating that one CR with bass traps.
