Alesis Multimix Firewire and Echo Layla/Vegas

I am wanting to buy an Alesis 16 FW mixer.
I have on my PC an Echo Layla soundcard running Sony Vegas 5 (sound forge) software.

Once adding their drivers, will the Alesis be able to record on Vegas, or do I have to use their software?

I would ask this Q in the Vegas forums, but I can't find them anymore...

I think the firewire will work fine with Vegas but, I'm not sure the Firewire and Layla will "coexist". Are you just wanting more "ins"?

you have to get like multidevice drivers its a pain in the neck.
