I found this posted as a review for Alesis MultiMix 12 FireWire 12-Channel Analog Mixer on MusiciansFriend.com. Can anyone confirm that this does or does not work well with Sonar 6 Home Studio Edition? If not, what other fire wire mixer will?

Thanks

Beware; this thing has all kinds of playback problems in Sonar--check the cakewalk forums. The Alesis support only responds by telling people to wait for driver updates.
It apparently has issues with dual core/multi computer systems. The audio playback will randomly go into a distorted jumpy mode where everything plays back too fast. After two weeks of messing with settings and reinstalling everything up to and including Windows, there is no solution. Maybe it works well with Albeton, I don't know. All my material is within Cakewalk.

I do not know what is the main difference between Sonar 6 producer and home studio edition, but I have gotten my Multimix 16 working on a Windows Vista laptop running Sonar 6 Producer Edition. I did have to fight a bit as I always got dropouts, but then I managed to make it work by fiddling with buffer settings and the like.

So, atm, I have no problems with Sonar 6 PE and my multimix. Though, 2/3 computers I've tested the mixer with weren't as willing to co-operate ;)

I don't know about working with Sonar, but you might want to check out Phonic's fw-mixers. They seem to be quite good, but I didn't have the money for a 24-channel one, so bought an Alesis.

Thanks for your words of wisdom. Any other opinions out there?
