Anyone know of a place in NJ (besides the Alesis-recommended TCI) who can repair an Alesis M1 Mk2 monitor?

I called Alesis when the unit ceased to power up. They sent me to TCI, but a week and a half after they received it, they're still a week or two away from opening the box to get started. I did check the basics... fuse is good, etc.

Oh yeah... I'd have expected that Alesis' authorized repair place would have a unit or two so I could have just sent the circuit... but they needed the whole monitor so they could test their fix.

Where in Jersey are you? I would suggest Dave's Audio in Whippany. But before you even call if your in a hurry don't bother. It's usually a few weeks to get anything back. He's very good and the shop is always full of repairs.

Thanks... Dave is the man for anything with tubes in it, but I didn't even think of him for an active monitor.

Update

Stay away from TSI... had I only known. The Alesis service department sent me there, so I'm more than a bit pissed at them too.

TSI told me I'd hear from them for a quote, but that it would take a couple of weeks. I called Wednesday about the quote, and they tell me it's finished (?).

The charge is $123 on a unit that currently retails for $125 (Music123, $249/pr)!?!? NO PHONE CALL, NO QUOTE???

If I had looked up the price before making the call, I would have told them to keep it, but I didn't know at the time.

They double boxed it, but PUT THE MONITOR DIRECTLY ON THE BOTTOM OF THE INNER BOX, WHICH SAT DIRECTLY ON THE BOTTOM OF THE OUTER BOX. In other words, tons of packing peanuts but NO padding between the unit and the outside world.

So I now have an expensive, banged-up monitor.

I swear I've been having some awful luck lately with MI merchants and service people.

The topper... Alesis, who sent me there since it is "their" repair partner, suddenly has a different tune: "Not us, nothing to do with us, nothing we can do about it... have a nice day."
