alesis mic link, with guitar?

Hi.
I want to record onto my macbook pro with my mic. I'm looking at the alesis mic link for this. (http://www.alesis.com/miclink)

If i then wanted to record guitar could i just get a small 1/4 inch - XLR adapter on the end and plug my guitar into this?

theoretically... but i believe you lose the slightest bit of quality the more you convert the signal. First Act also makes a guitar to USB cable as is the "Lightsnake, which my friend owns, and it's not a bad piece of equipment for an extremely stripped down and simple approach to recording. not the best sound quality but it's great for jotting down ideas or recording demos.
