Here is where I get a chance to show off some more of my ignorance(at least until I learn more)

I am considering Alesis M1 actives with and M Audiophile 2496 soundcard.

The 2496 has RCA input jacks for the speakers and the Alesis's have 1/4 inch jacks. Do I simply need jack converters to go down from 1/4 to RCA so that I can use these together or is there a more complicated answer.

THanks

NOPE! procustom and a few other cable companies have a male rca to 1/4 male cable.....i use it to run my audiophile to my monitor speakers

Thanks.

Hey distortedrumble I am taking your advice and getting the Audiophile 2496. Instead of the BX5 I am leaning more thowards the Alesis though.

make sure you try out the pair of alesis before you buy them...i hear the left speakers are usually defective or at least make sure you can take it back to the store

I've run Alesis M1 powered nearfields directly from the audiophile2496 using adapters on the speaker side - it's cool. I do need to make the proper adapter cable though.

The M1's both worked fine when I got mine about 2 years ago or so.

My M1mkII's have worked fine since I bought them this past summer. Excellent sound.

Thanks for your inputs guys/gals.

Kylen:

What do you mean you needed to make your own adapter cables?
