Alesis io 26 problem

Until today everything worked fine but before a few days I wanted to record and when I plugged alesis 26 with the power cable it worked just fine I can see the guitar track green light going up and down when playing .When I plug the firewire cable unlike all the days I was using the device until today .WHEN THE FIREWIRE CABLE IS PLUGGED I CAN SEE THE GREEN LIGHT IS ON AND THE ORANGE LIGHT BUT ULNIKE WHEN THE POWER CABLE WAS PLUGED THE LIGHTS ON TRACK 1 AND 2 TURNs OFF AND I CAN'T RECORD . WHEN THE GUITAR IS PLUGGED (OR MIC) CAN'T SEE IT(THE GREEN LIGHT ON THE TRACK ) LIKE I DID WHEN THE FIREWIRE CABLE WASN'T PLUG IN THE COMPUTER AND I CAN'T RECORD BECAUSE IT JUST DOSN'T WORK

When I try to record onany software : (cubase le 1 ,garage band ..) it just dosn't work when all the setting are fine

not entirely I understand the problem (other then you are not recording)

Are you attempting to record solely via computer bus power to IO26?

As anything in the recording chain changed: cable, computer, software upgrades, software, etc.

and I've run into more then one computer system that was sensitive to when (in the boot cycle) a firewire device was attached (with no consistency across different systems)

unless issue is due to hardware failure don't have enough info to do more then speculate randomly

Which of the usual suspects have you eliminated?
