It's usable, I still need to do some tweaking and playing around to get it perfect, but I have much less time than I'd like. I've got a clip of it in my sig. song called "in the dark" It needs more bass, but it was the first real time I tried to sit down and record a drum part with it. I've got it routed better now, but no clips of it yet.

P.S. I'm no drummer, but I can move my feet and hands so it works

ion

haha im getting the only cheaper drum kit i could find, an ion audio one. it's cheap, i'll be used for FX while im playing live, so i figured, why not.

I have the ion idmo2 ...it is a the alesis dm5 i believe..its not bad for 250 bucks..im still not sure how to use the output into my cubase le...any help>..anyone..anyone

The DM5 kit is great except for the wingnuts which are pretty rubbish, this is now a known issue and alesis are replaceing mine free.

With regard to connecting it to Cubase..... i use a Edirol MIDI to USB converter cost about £20 works perfectly first time.

It was seeing the DM5's in the last issue of Sound on Sound that got me interested in buying a kit. I never realized they'd become as affordable as they have. Pretty quickly I realized I might want some alternatives to the DM5's (due to the aforementioned worksmanship issues and also the lack of tom pads) and settled on the Yamaha DTXplorers. A bit more than I originally wanted to spend, but actually I had to stop myself before going overboard buying the Roland TD-3's, I would have had to dish out nearly double what I paid for the DTX's before all was said and done.

The only thing questionable is the hi-hat pedal trigger, but it's still going strong. You can add extra triggers for next to nothing these days too.

actually I've read in more than one review that the fasteners broke easily.. didn't want to chance it and the dtxplorers looked better to me so I got em.
