Just purchased a 16 track recorder . Question --Has anyone tried to take the 12 outputs from the drum triggers to 12 inputs to a recorder so you can individual control-- pan, volumn,eq. etc, instead of using the right and left outputs on the
D-4 module. I tried to "y" the trigger from the drum to the D-4 and to the recorded. Nothing happen.

If something could be figured out, your capabilities is endless, especially when the D-4 is so user friendly!

There are no "12 outputs from the drum triggers", so that answers your question. The D4 has 4 outputs, period.

And the D4 is not that user friendly at all, it takes a lot of tweaking to get rid of all double triggers and crosstalk. If you want something really user friendly, try the ddrum4 module. I've had mine for a couple of years now. You plug everything in, and then you're ready.
Of course, it costs 5 times (or so) more, so the two modules shouldn't really be compared...

A trigger by itself won't make any sound. that's what the module does. A trigger is like a key on a piano. A key by itself does not make the tone. It is the hammer on the strings that does.
When you plug your triggers in your recorder, you have something like a piano without strings.

Well I hate to be picky, but of course it makes a sound, otherwise there would be nothing to trig. But it's not a sound that you'd want to record...

I believe the DM pro (the newer drum module by Alesis) has 6 outputs wich gives you greater panning abilities for single drums to record

If you can sync your recorder to MIDI, then perhaps you could record the tracks 2 at a time. (4 at a time if you route to the Aux outs).
