I have recently been recomened the akg preception 200 condenser mic, i think it is a fairly new product, and i was wondering if it would be worth the money, 150-300.

I would be looking to use it for more than vocals, like guitar or maybe bass also.

Thanks.

What kind of guitar? And bass should be recorded direct most of the time.

i have one--it's good for the money on vocals, acoustic guitar--if you're looking for economical, bright (but not overly so), and full--it's been good to me. if you have the resources to get something better, then you might as well. but if the 200 matches your budget, then i say it's a decent choice (i bought mine out of the same necessity).

It's a decent mic on vocals, haven't heard it on guitar. If 150-300 is your budget you can probably do better getting a "all around" mic in the 300 range which will put you in a different league of mics, somewhere in the ballpark of a new KSM27, AT4040, Hamburg, Vienna etc...

Or even better on Ebay. I would reccomend the AT4050 on anything after hearing a few samples of it. But to answer your question, yes the 200 is a fair mic I just haven't heard it on vox.

hey dude i dig it. I use it for bass and for vocals. I have never tried it for elctric guitar but it works on acoustic. I find it a good deal, especially since its an akg. Its def a good sounding mic.

I started out looking at this mic, but i ended up picking the AT3035, and am buying it as soon as I get payment for the mixer I just sold on ebay.
