Best sound I've gotten out of my C-3000 was having the mic at about shoulder height (from a seated position) pointed straight down at the guitar pointed at the 13th fret. This was a Martin D-41. Your milage may very.

I guess I should put new strings on before recording which I havent tried yet, that cant
hurt. The cs3000 is a good mic and I have heard better results with less so it must be me. I am going to try a tube preamp also, I
dont think that will hurt either.
