I'm considering getting some more 418s for my toms.I dont mind it compared to my sm57:) but It seems really hot on my 12".I would probably get one for my 8,10,and13"toms.
Also is the 419 a good snare mic?
Thanks

I like my 418s -- but they're a little light on the floor tom - an AKG D12 or D112 is better if you trying to capture the extreme lows.

OK now I'm hearing that 418's are only good for live.
Someone said in a post that you dont want mics clipped on for recording?

Well, I don't know if I agree with that -- they seem to work quite well for me!

the 418s sound okay, but the cables go bad easily. They'd be much better if they had removable/replaceable cables. You really need to handle them with care.
