can i use the AKG 414 TLII with my vs880ex or do i need some kind of phantom power? Cause im getting nothing here..thanks for all replys.

your akg is a condenser microphone that will require phantom power to make it work. As I recall also, the roland stuff only has a 1/4" unbalanced input, you will need a really good bridging transformer with a jensen transformer in it to make the xlr to 1/4" conversion, and not lose the great sound the 414 will deliver. a radio shack adaptor is not really suited for this as the transformer is kind of crappy and will phase shift your high frequencies.
