Recently acquired an Akai GX-260D. Looking for recommendations for the best, highest output tape for use with this unit in new tape.

Are you willing to recalibrate it, or do you want something to match its factory spec?
I have a 210D which I have been feeding SM468 (I have a 50 unit box of them in 5" spools and nothing much else to do with them). There is a definite overemphasis on the high end so the thing clearly wants to be recalibrated.
I don't have the service manual and it works well enough for casual listening anyway, but it's not exactly perfect.
