in case anyone is interested, a thread popped up a couple of weeks ago regarding pneumatic kick pedals:

i contacted the company since they're based only a few miles from me, and the guy that designs them is an engineer for an automotive company. he said he's out of stock right now, but should have more in the next couple of weeks.
he told me that he'll drop off a double pedal to me for a trial of a week or two, and i'll give you guys a review. he seems like a pretty good dude, and said that this is just a side project, and all the parts are locally made. the furthest out he goes for machining is elyria, which is only 20 miles or so northwest of him (parma, OH).
