I've just about decided that when I build a house, I'm building it with an air conditioner that is instant on, instant off. This BS of having to wait 1-2 minutes for the stupid fan to kick off when I switch the thing off is nuts. I want my A/C keyed to the same switch that controls the speaker mute relay in the studio and the on-air light relay outside the door. Throw the switch, then key up the mic, and record 10 seconds later. Disable record, throw the switch, and A/C kicks back on.
Alternately, I might just use ducts that are four or five times the size needed for the room, space them more frequently, and run them at a fraction of the normal air volume so that they're almost completely silent.... Either way.
