Okay

so i bought the us 122 for 50 bucks off a dude. seen it work, everything was fine. he had it hooked up to vista like i am trying to do. the disc he gave me was windows 98, so i went around online till i found the drivers, got them, install program, and when it gets to the end it says installation failed, please contact tascam.com. wtf is wrong with this?? im not completely stupid lol, i got the zipped folder with all the shit, unzipped, and selected setup in the folder, it does its thing for a min and it asks you to plug in tascam if you havent already, gets through that and bam!! My god i wanna record!! someone help me!!!

I am Getting Irritated!

vista 32 :) is there any way this could be my dumbass not unzipping the folder right? i mean when i got the pack, i extracted to "here" and then when it was done i selected the setup and went from there

The procedure sounds right...

What driver (version #) did you download?
According to the Tascam site, version 3.40 will work with XP and Vista (32 & 64).

If this is not what you have, you can download it here:
http://www.tascam.com/products/us-122;9,15,68,19.html

If it is what you have, maybe try redownloading it, in case the first one became corrupted and try a reinstall.

Since you have already had at least one unsuccessful install, you will need to make sure to do a clean uninstall of the failed attempt first... Instructions for that can be found here:

http://www.tascam.com/i-714-232-128-3-BD9FBCDF.pdf

I think the XP info will be the same for Vista.

Also, make sure that when you're installing the drivers, the US122 is NOT connected to the computer. The program will tell you when to plug it in...

Also, they say to turn off Hyperthreading and any antivirus programs before installing.

Hope this helps!

:)

Also,

Other folks have had success in using the earlier XP drivers with Vista32 (Driver version 3.30) or the 2000/XP drivers (3.24)

To do this, after unzipping the drivers, right-click the driver installation(the .exe file), select properties -->compatibility tab-->Check the Compatibility Mode box, and select 'Windows XP.
Right click the .exe again and select 'Run as administrator' (Important!). This will install the driver base. This only takes a few seconds. When it is finished, plug in the US122, and Vista is supposed to automatically install all 3 drivers.

You will need to do a clean uninstall first of the failed attempts still.

Bating practice with my tascam anyone?

i tried the download you sent me to, already had it, still didnt work. i looked in my programs and i dont see tascam anything, went i go to install you have the option of installing driver or removing drivers, before i try to install everytime im selecting remove first. and the running as administrator got a lil bit farther in the total completed but then crashed again. it says installation failed, error:timeout 0x0005

I got it to work but......

ok yay!! it works!! hoever now, in cool edit pro it is recording in stereo, but only on the right side. can u tell me how to switch it to mono so it records one line instead of a top and bottom?

That would be an input setting in Cool Edit Pro I'm thinking... I'm a Sonar man so I won't be any help to you there... :(

Glad you got her running!

:D

Well thank you for all the help i got it all working!!
