Hi,

I have an SE2200T and I have just been recording some vocals for a colab project.

I got half way through a take and the mic just cut out. . . just stopped recording. I then realised that the PSU for the mic had cut out, I assumed that the fuse had gone on the electric cable. . . no such luck, when I touched the metal case it was burning hot! Whats happened? what have I done!!!!!!!

Could be many thing, but the bare essentials:

Are you using a grounded power socket?

Did the way you had the psu set up block any air vents in the psu?

Yes and No, I keep the psu just under my PC monitors there is about 8 inches of nothing on one side and about a 2 inch space on the other.

Excuse me that I know nothing about electronics, I just managed to turn it on there is a red light on the front that usually flicks on and off a few times then there is a click and the light remains on, this time the light just stayed on and there was kind of a buzz and a litttle rattle. For the record I try and keep it in the same place up on my desk so that it does't get banged about, and I am very carefull with my gear. I only got it last september, do you think the best plan would be to contact SE? or the place of purchase? will it have broken the mic? just before it cut out there was a fast clip on the waveform.

A lot of electrical equipment (blow dryers, vacuum cleaners, lap tops) automaticaly turn off when overheated, a "heat switch". Your PSU probably has one to, try again tomorrow when it has cooled down properly. If it works, maker sure not to block the air vents again, if it doesn't work, then contact SE.

Good luck.

Did the switch for the voltage on the PSU get changed by accident? That is what it sounds like to me.
