Intel vs AMD

i cant make up my mind on this one....but im pushing toward the AMD Athlon ..its cheaper!!!

all those who own this chip please give some feedback on its performance inside pro audio applications such as Cubase SX /Soundforge or Sonar

and please no floating point jargon !!!!

I have an Athlon 1800+ and I think the chip itself is fine, it's just the crappy VIA chipset on the motherboard that causes me problems.

Having said that, my new machine will be Intel/Intel chipset on an Asus motherboard

All I can add to this is that Cubase SX runs fine here on an AMD Duron 1200MHz + SiS735 chipset.

AMD 1800XP on a Gigabyte GA-7VTXE+ with the VIA KT266A (PAC) and VIA VT8233A(PSIPC)

running Cubase VST 32 v5 and multiple Delta soundcards on Win98se.

No known faults

What kind of track count can you get during mixdown?

28 with lots of plugins is the most I've had in one song at 16/44.1
