What's the advantage with AES/EBU anyway..
This may be a stupid question.

quoting from "Recording" magazine April 2000
in their "A Digital I/O Roundup"

"The two formats (AES/EBU, S/PDIF) differ only in the subcode (non-audio) portion of the data stream...Both formats are capable of transferring 24-bit audio data..."

Basically they are in the same standard.

One advantage of AES/EBU is that it dosen't recognize copy protection.

S/PDIF carries track indexing information while AES/EBU dosen't.

if you need to know more- get the magazine! it's definitly worth it just for this article- very informative. :)

One thing over spdif is longer cable run(they should always be as short as possible even digital world) because it's balanced. aes/ebu in addition to being widely available on pro units do not carry a copy protection bit that disables you from making digital copies of some music hope it helps....
