Heya
Got my new setup going now, hooked my mackie back up, switched to an m-audio 2496 card,
https://homerecording.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=231033
Everything sounding good now but am facing a new nemesis.... STATIC!
Where I am living now, up in the mountains, the air is very very dry. So static seems to build up very quickly no matter what I do. For example, if I get up to go from the chair to the fridge, get a drink, come sit back down, touch the studio desk, BZZZT is heard in the speakers. Tons of static build up from just walking across the room.
Anyway, I searched around and read a couple threads, and figure I need an anti-static mat, some static wristbands, and static strips... but i was hoping maybe someone could explain the usages and placement in more detail to me, and maybe recommend some specific items for my situation. (I'm a complete newbie when it comes to the static situation)
Right now, in a small apt, so have my setup sitting on a desk which has metal base/legs, and a wood panel top. The desk is sitting on carpet. I have a box under the desk that the computer and amp is sitting on. The whole thing is in the corner of the main room, right next to the window.
My chair is plastic swivel on a metal base, and is sitting on a plastic office mat, one of those things that lets you wheel around easier.
anyway, let me hear what you guys think about what I can do to cut down my static problems
thanks in advance
