hey guys...i'm new to all of this so please bare with me :P i am in need of a midi controller i believe, for i wish to create some music i can directly record onto my pc! i am looking for one that isn't very expensive (im in canada btw so everything is more expensive then in usd), had controls such as sliders/knobs on the controller, and hopefully enough keys to play songs on, anythign 45 and lower i think is too small.

i've heard good things about EMU and M-Audio...can anyone share some insights for a beginners controller or something?

I vouch for XP30 because i got one :D

Not exactly cheap, but i love it!

Here's a link to a midi controller --- LINK --- that should fill the bill. It has 61 keys and sliders and knobs and isn't so expensive as to break the budget.

Thanks, I think I'll probably buy that one :)

Guys I have a problem, please respond ASAP! I am looking between the M-Audio Oxygen8 and the M-Audio Radium 61 key with a Tascam US-122 soundcard. The advantage the Oxygen8 has is that it's also an audio interface, disadvantage is that it's only 25-keys. Which should I get that has the best value & will give me the lowest latency!

Latency is an issue with the soundcard, not the midi controller. I would go with the Radium, but I just like having lots of keys to mess around with. I also just prefer having seperate units than "all-in-one" type things. But that's just me! :p

Ditto.

If you have separate pieces you can upgrade them individually. Much more flexibility that way and its easier to preserve your investment.

Have fun,
Chris

Hey guys....yeah, when I was at the local music store yesterday, this guy there was really trying to sell me on the Oyxgen8. Personally, even though I am a beginner, I still feel that in the long run, 25 keys won't be enough. Do you guys think the Radium 61key + the Tascam US-122 would be a good combination? Or any other combinations someone can recommend in the same price range? Thanks in advance, guys! :)

Yes. The Radium 61 and the US-122 make a fine team which I'm sure will allow you to make much good, great or near-great music.

Stay away from the Oxygen8.... I dont know about others but Ive had many problems with mine... the only reason its still in use is for its audio interface capability. For some reason it likes to stop responding after an hour of constant use. You have to turn off and turn on the unit constantly... I dont think it was meant to be used as much as I do (3-4 days a week, 3-6 hours at a time). Extremely easy to set up and a good price but the durability factor sends it down the tubes for me and makes me question m-audio...
