What's the story in the US regarding advertised prices a)on a website b)in an email? If somebody quotes you a price, and then raises it later on, is this acceptable? I'm not talking lawyers, I'm talking bargaining leverage.

Hey Dobro:

That once happened to me with Sweetwater Sound; I wrote a letter to the President and after he read it he called me and sent me the equipment at the price I was originally quoted.

Most good companies stick to the price given on the phone but within two weeks, that price can change.

Full Compass has been pretty good to me for the past two years; I don't deal with Sweetwater anymore because they refused to assign me a different sales person; man are they dumb. But my letter did lixiviate into the President's brain. (I teach English Composition so the letter was fun and filled with big, big, big words.)

If you buy, I've found it best to deal with a company that isn't too far away from home. But, shop using all of those 800 numbers and demand that you be sent NEW, CRISP NEW, equipment.

Good shopping,
Green Hornet

Just wanted to add that we also had a problem with SW but FC has been our primary dealer and they stick to what they quote.Sometimes it takes a while to build a relationship with a particular CSR and once you do, they will look out for you.
