Hi Guys

Ok the scenario is this , soundcraft spirit ES mixer with a lexicon MX200 dual effects plugged into the aux channels and fed back into one of the stereo channels so that i can add effect mixes with this unit to each instrument channel , this works very well.

I have a Behringer Ultradyne pro which I want to use to process(compress) the dr880 AFTER it has gone though the mixers eq section and cant figure out how to do this. The DR880 uses 1 mono output and feeds into a single unbal channel on the spirit.

Of course I could disconnect the Lexicon and plug the ultradyne in its place but then i couldnt be able to mix in my effects live.

any workarounds for this ? probably is but I damned if i can figure it out.

Now the ultradyne Pro is a multiband processor so i guess i could use it on the output of the mixer before it feeds into my fostex MR-8HD for recording but i dont want the hard hitting bass lines that will be compressed to affect the rest of the mix. Or is the Ultradyne capable of doing a good job of this ?

From your post it sounds like you are thinking of using the multiband compressor the same as you would a single band compressor.

The whole purpose of a multiband compressor is to allow you to compress various frequencies differently. So you would put it on the mix buss and then make sure that the band affecting the bass range is not compressing, or compressing very lightly.

this is true but I dont want the compression on the kicks to also affect my bassline, they are on a very similar frequency range and i`m afraid this would probably happen .

I really want to affect as little as possible with the compressor , so i wanted to isolate it to the drum track only ;)

Wrong forum. Try "The Rack" -- you might get better results.
Sound Modules refers to MIDI tone generators.
