Hello Everyone,

I layed down a up-right bass track last night. It sounds boomy. Anybody have any reference points on where to start adding some compression and EQ so that I can bring some of the boominess out? I would like to try and salvage the track if possible.

I did record the bass dry and flat.

Thanks,
Mike

Find the "boominess", suck it out with an equalizer... then add compression until you can hear all the notes when the track is playing [don't look at the monitor, listen to the monitors]... if you can't get the tone to sit in the track, and the performance is good... then try to build the track around the tone... if the performance is mediocre, or can be easily recreated [or exceeded], try again with a different mic/mic position/setup.

Best of luck.
