Hi,
I have a few guitars with 21 frets. I would like to add a 22nd (having that extra D on the top); how feasable is it? There is a little extra space to 'cram' one in, would it work and how hard would it be?

Thanks; any ideas welcome (except buy another guitar or neck),
Krystof.

Patience, Martha. He's using a router!

If you've got room and you can make it in tune, go for it.
Just be careful with power tools and take your time.

Happy hunting!

most necks will not have the extra wood on the fingerboard necessary for the 22nd fret. I assume you're talking about strats or teles...

Yeah I am. Looks to me like another could squeze on in theory; but in practise I don't know.

You;re talking about mexi Fenders. This is second hand info, so take it for what its worth. I hear you can do it to a rosewood board but not on maple. (??? i have no idea...maybe the wood would split??) I would definately pay to have it done with the right tools and experience. Now, I dont fully trust the source I heard this from.....but it's just what I heard. A qualified tech should know if there's room on there or not.
