Add more bass to song

Hi there everyone,

I just signed in to ask a simple question. I am user of cool edit pro. I have never used this fine programm but a few days ago I decided to give an old song a little more bass. First of all I need to solve a little problem and I would be glad if someone in here could help me.

I need to see how much bpm the existing song has.
After that I would like to put new own basses above the old ones.

Can somebody tell me how to do?

i didnt find looping the best thing in CEP, other programs are easier,at least for me, likely i am missing something.

you could zoom in on the waveform, and measure the time inbetween identical bass hits. A little math would give you the BPM. I once timed something, and had to resort to fractional BPM values...IE, 122.53 BPM, LMAO...but i finally "nailed" it.

example...zoomin, like ten zooms, close in, and find the exact beginning of the first beat in the bass line. write the time down. dont neglect the fractional part after the decimal point

zoom out, and get the the next exact beginning of the first beat the very next time it occurs, zooming in again. again, note the time again.

the DIFFERENCE (subtraction...) between these two times, will give you the BPM with a little intuition.

for example, if you were to find that there was exactly 2 seconds between the beginning of identical regular bass notes, 60.0 seconds / 2.0 seconds, would yield 30.0 BPM TIP: since math is in base 10, and time is kind of base 60, convert everythign to seconds to keep the units straight.

construct your new bass line using this time frame. Then, its a matter os "lining up" the bass line in an adjacent track window. ZOOM really helps here.

FWIW, i didnt find the "auto find BPM" feature to be at all accurate, so i resort to math.
