What I need is one eight channel adat lightpipe out of the console, split to multiple DR16's, DR8's, etc. I need a total of 12 outputs, so I've already maxed this unit out, but I've purchased it anyway just to give it a try. I can always return it I guess. $640, not terribly painful. The Z-systems equivilent was about $19xx or thereabouts. I'm actually not going to be touching the front panel, essentially I'm going to use it as a splitter. If that doesn't work, I'll try soldering up a simple toslink buffer. $12 for the input channel, and $11 for each output channel, approximately. I can afford that, but who can be bothered making such a thing.
Spend less time patching and more time creating!
Introducing APACHE, the professional lightpipe patchbay from Frontier Design Group. ADAT Optical and TOSLINK digital audio interfaces are the accepted standard for interconnecting much of your studio's gear. But keeping all those connections straight can be a real headache. But now there's APACHE.
With 12 inputs and outputs, you can route up to four sets of 24-channel equipment with one easy-to-use box. That means you can route audio between your digital tape machines, hard disk recorders, computers, and a digital mixer without ever having to unplug and repatch cables. Just set up APACHE once, and with just two button presses you can completely reroute your studio.
APACHE provides an independent PLL for each input. Each input stream is precisely reclocked so that the output stream carries the full integrity of the input. You'll always get trouble-free routing with full 24-bit resolution.
