If I had it all to do over, I would have never bought the ADAT PCI card!!! Those pukes!!! No NT driver. The initial driver didn't work very well. The initial software didn't work very well.
You have to disable your other soundcard to use it!!! Try enabling, and disabling your other soundcard on a regular basis in 98/95. You will be having fun all the way to the reintall bank.
Spend the dough and get something that has the lightpipe I/O, and, some decent converters. You will definately be looking in the $600 and up range for this kind of card.
Be aware also that getting sample accurate transfers from an ADAT to a computer is a very tricky thing!!! Getting them back is just as tricky.
Also, you should be aware of issues concerning dithering before you go all hog wild on editing 16 or 20 bit tracks on your computer. Go to
www.digido.com and read Bob Katz article about dithering. It opened my eyes to a lot of things about the average man's DAW that seem to be prevalent these days. I am counting my lucky stars that I can even record a 24 bit 48KHz file to the hard drive, edit and master it, and make it actually sound like it was all done in the 24 bit realm.
