ADAT Sync & Word Clock help for complete newbie..

OK, I'm thinking of linking up a Motu 8Pre, Moto 828Mkii and an HD24 using ADAT cables (without a computer in site) and I'm looking at all the ADAT Syncing/Word Clock connections on the devices... do I need to know anything about these or are they for syncing to older tape based ADAT devices?

OK I'm now wondering if you still have to set one as the master and the rest as slaves to the sync codes or do they all work that stuff out between them?

There'll need to be a Master. You'll probably need to determine which it will be.
