nope
i have an akai dps12, and every input on it is a balanced (stereo) trs input with its own gain adjustment. currently i'm running all 8 drum mics into a cheap mixer and out of the mixer to the dps12 with 2 channels (stereo) via trs 1/4" cables. my question is, if i get simple male xlr by male trs (transformerless) adaptors, will i have a balanced mic signal into each trs input if i want to bypass my mixer altogether and use the 12-track preamps so i get individual tracks? damn i wish i had direct outs from the mixer...

As long as the Akai has phantom power (and you are using any condensor mics). It will work.
