Hi guys,

My name's Jason Frazier (18), and I'm an aspiring actor (headed for Broadway!!), and I'm working on putting a demo CD together featuring mainly improv bits and some monologues. However, I may include a few Broadway song standards as well.

Recently, I recorded a test of my new audio equipment (mic, mixer, computer setup), for only a few hundred dollars. However, I believe the quality is pretty excellent.... (Im not a pro Engineer, but...)

If you wouldn't mind, I'd like anyone who would to give my track a listen. It's Zazu's song from THE LION KING ON BROADWAY, "The Morning Report". This will not be on my demo, but is rather a test (The music on this track is supposed to be barely audible -- I was testing the pickup on my VOCALS). Anyway, to hear my half-assed singing, check out:

http://www.myplay.com

When the page loads, enter the following:
For the email, enter: broadwayjf@yahoo.com
For the password, enter: frazier
Then click SUBMIT.

When the new page loads, click LOCKER. When the next page loads, you should see my track listed, "The Morning Report (Demo).mp3" -- click the square box next to the name (check it), it'll highlight the track. Then click DOWNLOAD.

When the Download page pops up, RIGHT CLICK on the track name and select SAVE LINK AS (or SAVE TARGET AS). Make sure you save the file TO YOUR DESKTOP (for easy access) -- and save it with a *.mp3 extension!

When it's done downloading (shouldnt take long at all), listen and enjoy. I'm really not asking you to critique the singing (I hadn't warmed up prior), but LET ME KNOW HOW YOU FEEL ABOUT THE SOUND QUALITY, VOCAL PICKUP, noise (if any -- I think I did a pretty good job of eliminating that), AND LET ME KNOW ANYTHING ELSE YOU FEEL WOULD BE APPROPRIATE. Thanx for your time and patience. :)

All the best,
JASON FRAZIER
God Bless! +

(Also, see link to the track here).

Not too bad at all... the biggest problem is exaggerated sibilance on the vocal....

And the music bleed-thru was pretty loud........ (unless you intended for that to be there.........)

If you're boosting hi-shelf eq on the vocal track, don't! Use mic placement to capture the sound you need..........

Good luck...

Bruce

I'm curious and willing to give you a comment on your vox but, I don't wanna go through the hell you've outlined to get to it.

Your auditions should let you know if you sing well. Or tape a show that you're in now.

Rough business your entering, BTW.
