Active pickups for bass...

Anyone got any suggestions on a decent yet relatively inexpensive set of active pickups for bass? I'm retooling one of my older basses, and want to replace the pickups.

Looking for a punchy, bright and balsy sound....

I have a pair of J type EMG pickups in my 5 string that I wouldnt be without. Not sure on prices though its been a while since I put them in and can't really remember. They can be wired as 9v or 18v whichever you prefer. They have a reasonable range of tone on my passive tone setup but EMG do a 3 band active EQ for them too which apparently is extremely effective. I suppose I would describe them as being quite punchy and if you keep the tone trebly they have a nice bright ring to them.
