This software will identify specific frequency response and impulse response issues as well as showing decay times. Identifying what is causing them and how to deal with them is a different story.
They can be very helpful when doing your setup to maximize frequency response via pure positioning and identifying whether a specific issue is being dealt with via treatment placement.
If you want to play for free first, you can download Room EQ Wizard from Home Theater Shack. The guy who wrote it hangs out there and there are some good tutorials on it's use. Free download and runs on PC or Mac.
