I need help micing an acoustic flattop and an upright Bass thruogh the PA. How do I get
rid of feedback but still maintian volume and good tone. I don't want to use pickups, and I want the instruments to sound just as great trough the PA speakers as they do on thier own. Any suggestions?

I't s been my experience when miking acoustic instruments use a unidirectional mic with a really tight pattern...it tends to minimize feedback..

There's a small mic made by Crown that you put inside the F hole of the bass...also what a lot of older bassists do is strap a mic to the body of the bass so the head of it sits right at the bridge...it would be much better for an upright bass to have its own amp but if you do use a pa, make sure you keep the bass away from the speakers lol

oh and to retain an even better quality sound from the bass, have everyone else turn down :)
