Hey. You guys are a big help. Got another one for you tell me what you think. Not totally finished. Haven't done backup vocals yet. Put a few funny outtakes at the end for your enjoyment.

Thanks,

Andrew

Hello.

I listened to all three of your mixes... I figured I'd make all my comments at once... primarily because I'm tired and I wanna go to bed... :p

O.K... so... your songs are pretty good. Your mixes aren't bad. You could use some changes here and there... maybe improve your vocal sound a little,... fill the mix oat a litte more.. etc. etc... Your live drum recording on Wellspent was actually pretty decent... (not to mention that the drummer was pretty darn decent too)... anyway... I don't wanna pick all your stuff apart... (once again... late... tired.. going to bed..etc. etc.) but I did notice one glaring thing about your stuff that must be fixed.

Your acoustic guitar sound is atrocious... any by "atrocious" I mean,.. "Oh my Lord God in Heaven I didn't think an acoustic guitar could sound that bad." :D Anywhoo... whatever mic you're using to mic your vocals.. you need to use that on your acoustic, because runnin' through that pezio pickup that came with your guitar just does not work... especially the pick-up that came with your guitar.

Now,... I will cap that off by saying that I think your stuff is good (did I already say that...?? dang it... tired.. late... you know the drill..) and it definitely wasn't your guitar playing that was lacking.. it was just that sound that was so God awful that I'm still trying to recover from it...

anyway... seriously.. if you fix up that acoustic git sound, your stuff will be ten notches better, IMNSHO...

P.S... that drummer smokes man...

:p

Ouch..... My ears are still ringing from that acoustic too.

Plug in for the concert Bro. In the studio, Mic it!

Good luck.

Thanks for the tips. Didn't have time to redo all the guitars but i definitely see what you mean now. I'm only sixteen and just starting out with little funds for the home studio.

Uploaded a NEW version so you can see the differences.

Thanks a lot if you listen please LEAVE COMMENTS!! THANKS!

I agree with the above mentioned posts. Good song, Good singer and if you fix the problems it will be nice. Charva

I didn't hear the first version of the tune.

But, this one still has some major problems with that acoustic.

How are you recording it? It almost sounds like it's direct and in need of a setup. The picking parts are passable, they sound doubled, try some more extreme panning on them.

Vocals need to come up. Guitars are burying them big time.

If your micing this guitar, try moving the mic further back.

- The song is good
- The timing and performance is very good.
- The singing is great. Where were singers like you when I was 16 trying to start a band?

At 16, you are very talented. Keep with it.

I liked it alot. I was wondering what that guitar sound was. I don't have a peizo in my guitar so I guess I can't make that sound. I though it might be cool in moderation. like if you od a DI AND a mic and mix a nice blend. That's just my opinion. I kinda dig that "electric" shine to the acoustic sound you've gotten there. Kinda screams the live sound of BNL. Let us know what you did to record taht acoustic (signal chain & instrument). I'm interested.
I just Dig that shine. Seems the others hate it. Gues it just needs to be mixed in with some good AT4033 :D

The vocals are great. I dig the feeling you've gotten in them.
Maybe one or two places I'd point out for pitch. But I'm a choral singer so I'm a big critic on vox ;) .
(looks like emeric posted while I was writing :))

-Wish i had time and resources to redo that main guitar
-The singer is at school now and i can't get him to redo the vocals with a better guitar part because there are small timing errors and it would be INCREDIBLY difficult to redo with them
- I only have one SM58 so i make due

IM GOING TO MIC MY TACOMA CHIEF (C3C) NEXT TIME (WITH THE FISHMAN PREFIX PLUS AS A MIX) TO GET A DIFFERENT SOUND

The picking parts actually have a basic line of guitar (not basic just simpler) also with an accompany part with slight different timing on hits. Together is sounds really great. If anybody wants be to post the parts individually and together i will or that part.

ZPphreak - I a close to bridge strum down every 2 measures for a high piezo type sound that really fills it up. I used my preamp and got that electric sound. Also, its really just the body of my guitar. Its a really odd shape and thin body. But DOES NOT have that ugly acoustic telecaster or something sound. It sounds beautiful acoustically.

Still may add a little reverb to the vox. And maybe add a few backups/delete a few.

I have another thread with two other songs! THANKS A LOT!

I'm not gonna' mention the guitar sound...

But it has to be, what...an Ovation thin body?? Maybe not even an ovation...a "celebrity?" hehehehee...

Hey man, I just wanted to give you a thumbs up on the song itself. I figured out from the post that you're not singing, I guess, but if you're 16...and you're mixing this cleanly, you're gonna' be just fine.

(tune the shitty sounding guitar before you plug it in :D :D)

Cool song,
Chris
