Unkle Ticklefingers
I got to play my wifes guitar the other day....tune it actually, and was messing around with a couple of mic's trying to do a stereo mic'ing of this. It's pretty simple, but I mainly was wondering about tone, and if anyone had suggestion on it.
Acoustic
I'd eventually like to turn it into a tune, but for now...... :D
Thanks.

what is the mic setup?

It's a Nady setup I got. 2 inexpensive mic's. One is the small one, and the other is a LDC. They seem to work pretty good for this stuff. I haven't been able to get them to sound good with my amp...teh amp bites....so tried them on the acoustic. They sound much better with this. I really need to learn how to use them though...after I learn how to play....

Hey Dogman,

The acoustic captured there sounds a lot better than my efforts lately of mic'ing up the acoustic.

Listening on my pc speakers a little eq'ing here and there and I think you have a very warm and easy listening tone captured there Dogman!

Nice :)

Thakns, man. I am working on some eq, and different compression right now. Of course, I should probably have some direction on where to take this, but I'll work on that later.... :D

Ahhhhh, yes the one from the other day! I am working up some vocals on this to ifins' ya want Dog!!!

Deep touch of emotion here in this. Like maybe a walk along a mountain path next to a stream, and feeling all the energy of nature around, and how it can possess you. Oh yah, I am feeling this one. :D

Anything you feel like True. I have no real direction yet.....just trying to get a good sound. This one has been in my mind for a bit, and needs to go somewhere...I just don't know where....

i like it dog.. the bottom end sounds real nice to me on my set up. I like the overall chord structure too. Its not too bright which i tend to hear alot with acoustics on my system. Real nice man, love acoustic stuff.

Take care

yo yeah yea Dog of Dogs!! I did a scratch vocal tonight on a new one, but I still can't get the cubase set right. I am such a ditz! Once I get it, I won't forget. I think. :D

I am going to redo tomarrow after work, then send ya a listen of it, to see what you think. Put some scratch base, then send it to the Homo Daddy, for a listen to see what he thinks on some lead. :D

Hi Ed

Nice playing and recording. There is a nice tonal separation between the lows and the highs. Looking forward to hear more about that song.

/Jack Real.

Gary, Jack, thankd guys. Appreciate the listen.
Gary, glad you didn't find it too bright. Sometimes it does seem to build up the highs pretty fast. I used a bit of eq to soften the highest stuff, and I think it worked.

Jack, glad you like the tones. I tried to make it as close to the way it sounds in my room. Just nice and clean. Hopefully I sort of have that.
Thanks again guys.
Ed

Cool. I hope you get it figured out. You might need to find Carter for the Cubase answers. He seems to know it pretty well.

Sounds good to me Mr. Dogman :D I'm very inexperienced on recording acoustic, but I like what I hear here. Sounds like being on a lonely desert road in deep thought... the calm, but intense moment on the way to an old western town for revenge against the one that left you for dead in the alley with alligators :D Okay, maybe I read too much into this stuff...

Thanks, bud. The guitar was out of tune, so I tuned it, and did some more recording. I'll post it later.

Yeah I forgot, Carter does Cubase. I'll send him a pm. Thanks for reminding me Dog. :)

Ha, I have the ability to record an entire guitar part out of tune and not realizing it until I try to record the bass and it doesn't sound right

Gee...I've never done this before.... :o

moody and up front with a spot of phazyness going on, maybe some chorus or something? unless that's just the conversion....

very listenable

I listened I thought it was nice and clean and bubbly, very smooth.
Great job on the sound with your mics.
How close did you mic it?
I had to mic this diddy Acoustic World about 5 inches from the sound hole with a C414, and the intput gain on the mixer channel cranked about 3/4.
