Acoustic song - Little Bit Vague

You mentioned 'lifeless', and I have to agree that there is an element of somnambulism about the track.

Guitars are nice and crisp, and the lead break is very tasteful. Musically the song is satisfying.

The lyrics are biting, but the singing is too gentle for them. The double-tracked vocals are not helping either, because they further soften the whole thing.

So . . . it is somewhat contradictory song: musically relaxed, but lyrically tense. This could work, but you would need to inject a bit more venom into your singing to reflect the feeling inherent in the lyrics. Concentrate on getting a single good, strong vocal track.

Although I agree with gecko zzed in theory, I really liked the track as it is. With a title like, "A little vague", the somnolent quality of the track seems appropriate. I thought the vocals were lush and the guitars as above were crisp...
How about a bit of bass though to give the song a little more depth?

Really liked this though and will listen a little more :)

That single chiming note needs to be pulled back a little - it dominates more than the vocal.
I quite like the tension between the lyric & delivery - reminds me of Arlo Guthrie.
You might add a b vocal at the end of set that repeats the negatives as in
You smell like a dog fart & smile like a brick
Brick broken brick
You confide like like a poster and dance like a stick
Stick twiggy stick
So that the venom is in the repeat.
Or throw in a stinging, angry solo!
Good song monkey man!

Sounds great!

Hey, nice work! I actually enjoy the double tracked vocal quite a bit - very M. Ward. However, to me this sounds like a song that could benefit from recording vocals and guitar live / simultaneously. Obviously there will be some bleed on both mics, but the simple repeating rhythm sounds like it may be a loop...no noticable inconsistencies or idiosyncrasies that could give this thing some sparkle...like interplay between the playing and singing I guess, like you really feel what you're singing.

Hey thanks for the comments. I agree with everything pretty much....gecko, I agree.

I really like this one monkey man :)!

Whether intended or not, I like the irony of lyrics like this being delivered in this mellow manner. Guitars sound great. Is this a hong kong hoel room production? It seems to have a bit more depth to it than some past recordings. Overall very nice...sparse, but nice :D!

Hey thanks...yeah this is a hotel room number haha.

Actually, I really only like the solo. The rest is a dog's breakfast. I sang the vocals sitting on a couch before work one morning. The fills span about 2 months with different mics, guitar strings...haha...it's terrible!

Shit, it sounds good to me dude. I like the vocals a lot. The lyrics + delivery work well together.
