acoustic song (emo)

The guitar tracks have got a tight rhythm but the tone is very midrange-oriented. That's not a problem in itself except that it adds a buildup of a nasal quality combined with the vocal, which I think would sound better with a brighter and deeper backing. EQ or different compression control might help some, but sounds like you need new strings, maybe a different guitar if that's possible.

What gear and plugs were used? What kind of guitar?

Im going to assume that you used a dynamic mic on the acoustic guitar?
Was it a shure sm 57 by chance?

Everything sounds thin, and lacking in the 175 to 250hz area.

There is also a harshness in the 2k area.

is a classic guitar and have a very bad sound and i used rode nt1 mic for the guitar

Yeah, there's a fairly brittle quality to this. The guitar sound is too bright and clicky for my taste. The vocal is very sibilant. The NT-1 is probably largely to blame, as it is a rather bright mic. It can work great for some things, but can get harsh. You might try a good de-esser on the vocal track. Some EQ might help the guitar, but it would be best to retrack and try to get a smoother sound.

Decent song, though.

fala, the first mix was better, I think. The second mix just made the guitar sound more nasal/1 kHz-y. I'm listening to the first mix right now and would be interested to hear it with just a little more on the guitar in the 200-400 Hz range and also the 5 kHz+ range. Any compression you might be using, I'd slow down the attack on the guitar. It'll let the brightness come through better.

The second guitar part that plays an occasional bass line would maybe be best EQ'd to emphasize its overtones and not the fundamentals so it doesn't get the nylon str sound out of balance. I'm hearing the occasional vocal sibilance that scrubs mentioned and agree that a de-esser would be a good idea. But I think it's the guitar that needs the most work.

BTW, if you listen and post to other mp3s in the mixing clinic you'll get more responses to yours.

Hey fala, don't be so sensitive. We're just trying to help with the sound quality because the song's got potential.

I like the nylon string guitar in it. its in tune and in rhythm which is better than i can do. the vocal isnt a style i listen to much but it sounded good.
