I got a cheapie acoustic for Christmas (Fender DG20) and would like to try a pickup with it. Any recommendations for a unit that doesn't require drilling holes in the guitar?
When you are done none of the holes are visable. Actually you only drill one hole under the saddle. The other hole you enlarge, the rear strap peg comes out and you enlarge that hole. The hole under the saddle is only .089 inches
in diameter.
I agree with the dragon. I have the Seymour Duncan Sadducer (about 90 bucks or so). Sounds great! And like he says there are no holes visible anywhere. I did it to my $900.00 Sigma (which I realize is not the most expensive guitar though it is one of the nicest I've owned) right when I got it.
If you can see your way clear to spend just a little more money, take a look at the LR Baggs iBeam Active. It installs under the bridge inside the guitar,so the only thing you'll have to do is enlarge the end pin hole to secure the input jack.Someone I know just put one on his Eric Clapton signature Martin and it sounds very good.Around $120.
