A very nice minimalist arrangement and performance. BG vocal is really good. The recording sounds processed though. I'd take the compression off the ac gtr. I'd also prefer the gtr centered, but that's just personal taste. I don't see a benefit from adding noise.

What's the feedback from at 1:25?

Thank you Tim.
Fek! how did you ehar the compression on the acoustic! Good ears man.
I might play about with less compression or volume automation instead.
Yeah I doubled it and then nudged and panned. Sounds good in mono but I prefer it in stereo a little to the left.

The noise is in the break down where the vox stop. You can hear people talking in the background and a miniture fridge radiator. :)

I also added noise where I had to cut the vox tracks. There were pops in the vox so when I automated the volume to get rid of them it sounded weird becuase the noise went away then came back, so i samples noise from the vox track and placed it where the pops used to be. Strange but worked nice. You didnt notice the noise going missing. :)

Cheers,
Eck

Yeah, the compression sounds like it's being used to control some boom in the lower mids. Sounds like broadband comp to me, since it's affecting the highs too, and I bet a multiband comp would get you a more natural sound there. Just compress below 400 Hz or so, at around 2 or 3:1 with a slow attack and release. The Voxengo Soniformer is fantastic for that, but also good are the Waves multiband and even the freeware C3 multiband.

I've never been very satisfied when I've doubled a mono ac gtr track, as far as rawness or naturalness... I usually go with a little stereo verb to widen it instead. Just my own taste.

Nice work.

Yeah I thought the compression on the acoustic was a little obvious too, although it didn't bother me as much as I listened on and got used to it. But in the beginning it was pretty noticeable.

The singer (is that you?) sounds a lot like Maynard from Perfect Circle/Tool at times. ESPECIALLY at 1:40 with "busy doing nothing" and the beginning of the line right after that. I expect to hear Maynard sing "mmmm difficult not to feel a little bit .... dissapointed ... etc." from 3 Libras.

Actually, now that I think about it, the guitar part is pretty reminiscent of that song as well. hmmm.... :)

ha this is a welcome surprise. i really like this. but it does remind me a little of maynard a little. at first the noise was unexpected and not necessarily wanted but after vocals start it adds to the song.

Hey this is a nice tune.I liked the voice especially...Not too crazy about the end vocals--the 2 sound a little too busy--the acoustic is nicely played ---sounds a little boxy. Are you the same Serotone from Erik's radio?--You guys kick royal butt!!

Thanks for the tip Tim.
Ill play about with some multiband comp. I never usually use multi comp, but Ill give it a go.

Thanks for the post man.
I love Maynards singing, but I amnt the singer, im the guitarist/producer.
I dont hear Maybard in the signing really, or in the guitar.
The rythym is similar to 3 Libras, but thats the only thing that is kinda similar IMO.

Cheers man.
I like the busyness of the song. Near the end where the climax is the vocals and backing are real busy, but it works nice IMO. I think that adds to the natural rawness of the song.

I dont know of Eriks Radio. Do you have a URL for it?
You can check us out at www.myspace.com/serotoneband

Our album will be out in shops around April, so look out for it if you are intereseted, and we hope to tour the USA at some point. Either 2007 or 2008 Im thinking.

Cheers,

Nice. Good song, well done. I could more of the lead vox, other than that it sounds very good.
