aka Variaxman
Wrote this while on vacation this past summer in Northern Michigan...Decided to try out the acoustic models on my Variax 500....don't normally play in this style so I'm out of my comfort zone, which is a good thing I guess...only way to get better!
Lake Song

Axman goes acoustic, cool. I think that's one of the coolest things in the world to bring my acoustic to places like the lake or the canyons and just play away. I've been meaning to record some of it like this. Anyway... onto the song...

I really like this. The arps in background sound great with the lead. Your playing is very cool too. Sounds right on. Love the little stop at 1:19. The only thing I find wrong with this is that it sound a little too hot or something on my speakers. It's rattling them, but I checked the waveform and it's not clipping so maybe some EQ action could help that. That's only at high volumes though.

Nice melodies and cool song, keep it up man! I really like it and enjoyed listening to it. :)

So this is an acoustic model? not an actual acoustic?

Nice tone....very pretty sounding. Man, really like this. It's just plain Nice....
Very cool....

I like the turn of melody at :53 and 2:13. The tune's got a processed sound, but a good processed sound. The mix panning sounds good also - very natural.

Yeah, I really like to play my acoustic...just don't do enough of it!I did kinda record this with hot levels...gonna back it down when I remix it.I used my Line 6 variax 500,which besides being able to model several Electric models like Les Pauls,Strats, teles,Rickenbackers etc..can also do acoustics like martins,gibsons,12-strings...even banjos and sitars! Its a really cool creative tool, and for a guy in a covers band like myself, has proved quite useful.Right now I'm working on a banjo sitar prog rock epic :D !Watch for it!

Thanks Tim...I really enjoy your work on the acoustic,so any positive feedback makes me feel good!I did try to throw some eq and compression on this recording.Pretty happy with the acoustic modeling on the variax,as well as the workbench software that alows for virtual open tuinings, capo's etc..pretty cool stuff!

Oh I'm watching out! Can't wait to hear that one, sounds very intriguing :D

I'm really impressed with the acoustic sounds that thing does. Very nice. I've tried using an acoustic simulator on my electric and even putting acoustic strings on my electric and playing direct with the sim. Sounds decent, but doesn't come close to the real thing. I got a mic for acoustic now so I'm going to give that a try. Either way I'll have to give that guitar a look, I've been thinking about maybe upgrading for the holidays and I like the idea of being able to switch around models like that. If that happens, look out for "Variaxsnake" in the mp3 forum :p

by the way I heard the song again today and the "hotness" of the recording isn't distracting or anything... it's just that last night I was playing everything really really loud and then it's noticable.

I enjoyed your song and playing on this song!! I do think the levels are little high for a song like this, they are distorting the speakers a bit, but overall I enjoyed all of your playing here. :)

Heard this a while back. Wanted to post some comments but just been busy with blah and the thread keeps dropping far down. :)

Very cool. Sounded a bit like Tesla with their 12 guitar jam they did. Well I'm not sure it was 12 guitars but it was some really crazy number of guitars all playing their hearts out. :) I don't like Tesla but they had that one song "Love Song".

Back to this, pretty cool steady rhythm. I can't get a clean arpeggio sound on the acoustic guitars anymore. Been playing electric too long. :)

The solo is really nice and laid back and just mellow. I'd like to see you try this after a couple of beers. I mean you drinking the beers not me. :) I think that would bring out even a more mellow sound. :) Just giving ideas.

This is one of those songs that could go on for 9:00 minutes and I'll forgive the artist for having a song longer than 4:00 minutes. :)

It sets a nice mood. I like the captured acoustic sound. You may have already said, but can I ask what make the guitars are? Is it just one acoustic doing both parts or different guitars used for rhythm and lead. :)
