Slow Children Playing
I haven't been around in a while. I know there are a few luthiers that hang out and I am in a bit of a pickle.
I have a Gallagher doc watson that I bought used. This guitar has had a rough life, but it play(ed) great and is loud as a cannon. A few weeks ago, I went away for the weekend and the guitar was in the car trunk for an extended period of time. Not overnight. I brought it in the house and it's been in the case ever since.
I guess the cold dried it out because I took it out of the case today and the action is noticeably higher. I have a gig tonight and I was wondering if it would be a good idea to take it into the bathroom and run a hot shower for a while to moisten it up a little. Would it make a difference? I was told that sometimes the drying will cause the top to collapse a bit and to keep an eye on the action as an indicator of dryness.
Is that crazy talk?
