How do y'all think it would sound if I used a Studio Projects B1 panned right, and a Shure sm58 panned left for an acoustic guitar?
Would it sound crappy? Would I be better off just using the B1? Or will it sound awesome? I'd appreciate any suggestions, thanks.

Oh yeah, and if the B1 was placed around the 12th fret, and the Shure was maybe like over the shoulder (?).

I don't know, I need some guidance.

Thanks alot,
Corey

i've had decent results with a 58 and a C1. It really depends on your guitar's natural sound. I've had better results with brighter acustic guitar when using 58 because it sounds duller compares to my C1.

my 2 cents

What you need to do is experiment. No one can tell you how it will sound on a particular guitar.

The B1 on the neck and the 58 on the bout is where I'd start. Actually, I'd probably just use the B1 by itself--about 2' out from the neck joint, slightly angled toward the body.

Try this... Put the B1 at the oft mentioned 12th fret (taking care to completely avoid the 13th! :-), at a distance about 15 to 25".

Record your track, then copy the track to another track. Pan one hard left, pan the other hard right. THEN place one of the tracks 20 or 30 milliseconds in timing after the other. Experiment on how much is too much/too little. This really gives a nice, full sound. You want it to be there, but not obvious.

Thanks!

Hey guys, thanks alot for the responses.

I'll definitely try some different things.
